Jan Gabrielson Tansil has been practicing law since 1986 and has extensive experience in employment law, labor law, and business transactions. Ms. Tansil provides preventative and remedial counsel on all aspects of employment law, stressing proactive measures that help employers comply with ever-changing federal, state and local laws, and thereby avoid unnecessary risk and expense. She also represents employers in traditional labor law matters including representation campaigns, NLRB actions, contract negotiations, and arbitration of grievances. Her practice includes work in the related areas of unfair competition and trade secrets, along with employment issues related to mergers and acquisitions.
Ms. Tansil received her BS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Management and her JD from the University of Colorado School of Law. She is a member of the state bars of California and Colorado, and she serves as a fee arbitrator for the Sonoma County Bar Association. Ms. Tansil serves as a court-appointed discovery referee and arbitrator and as a Small Claims Court Judge, and as a private party mediator. She is a member of Sonoma County Women in Law and the Napa-Sonoma Women for WineSense Human Resources Roundtable, and has served on the boards of directors of the Personnel Association of Sonoma County (PASCO), United Way for Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake, Brush Creek Nursery School, Twin Hills Education Foundation, the REACH Parent Foundation, and the Analy High School Education Foundation. Ms. Tansil has taught in the Business School and certificate program for Human Resources at Sonoma State University, along with numerous other courses in employment-related topics.
